Matt Hasselbeck(notes) has agreed to a multi-year deal with the Tennessee Titans, according to this report from ESPN's Adam Schefter. Not a surprise move, exactly, as the veteran QB had been linked to the Titans via rumor. So ends a commendable 10-year run for Hasselbeck in Seattle.

together in the past in in Seattle. Titans OC Chris Palmer and Matt Hasselbeck have known each other for years and are reportedly good friends. That and ties to other people in the Titans FO is why he's been projected to the club so much, and it looks like the projections were all correct.
I won't try to convince you that this signing seriously moves the needle for Tennessee's offense, but it certainly can't hurt. Hasselbeck is a bridge to Jake Locker(notes), almost like a player/position coach. He'll turn 36 in September, his TD/INT ratio is just 34/44 since '08, and he's played only one full 16-game season in the past five years. Hasselbeck is, according to pretty much everyone, one of the NFL's good guys, and there's no doubt his presence will be appreciated in Tennessee. But that franchise is still facing a potential Chris Johnson holdout and a Kenny Britt(notes) suspension (or mega-suspension, considering his off-season). The Titans are also entering the first season of the post-Jeff Fisher era, and there are no obvious reasons to be excited by the new offensive coordinator. We all like tight end Jared Cook(notes) well enough as a semi-sleeper, but the team context here remains ugly.
Yup, if that headline doesn't get your heart racing, I don't know what will. Two uninteresting fantasy quarterbacks are signing with uninteresting fantasy offenses. Woo. Let's discuss...

The day will come when you can use something you read about here to have a beneficial impact. Then you'll be glad you took the time to learn more about tarvaris jackson, kyle orton, seahawks, seattle seahawks, donovan mcnabb .

If you have nicer things to say about Tennessee's 2011 potential, feel free to skip ahead to comments. I'm shifting from Hasselbeck's new mess to the mess he leaves behind...

• The Eagles are reportedly looking to extract both a first round pick and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie(notes) from Arizona, in exchange for Kevin Kolb(notes). That seems nuts. Kyle Orton(notes) may not be better, but he's at least comparable to Kolb, and he has to be cheaper. No matter how things shake out, the Cards are going to get a serious upgrade at quarterback, which of course is great news for all of their skill players, not just Larry Fitzgerald(notes) and Andre Roberts(notes).
• Seattle has reportedly reached an agreement with former Minnesota quarterback Tarvaris Jackson(notes). As expected, they've also agreed to terms with Matt Leinart(notes).
I know what you're thinking, football fans, and I'm here to help: Here's a link to buy Seahawks season tickets. You're welcome.
Jackson and Leinart will apparently battle Charlie Whitehurst(notes) for the starting quarterback role. (While they're collecting, Seattle should probably bring in JT O'Sullivan(notes), Chris Simms(notes), David Carr(notes) and Cleo Lemon(notes) for a look, too). I'm giving a slight edge to Tarvaris here, as he has a relationship with new OC Darrell Bevell. Leinart obviously has a connection to head coach Pete Carroll, so he can't be ruled out just yet. Whoever emerges from this epic preseason struggle will rank somewhere in the 28-32 range among QBs for fantasy purposes. In plenty of 8 and 10-team fantasy leagues, no Seahawks will be drafted. Not Mike Williams, not Marshawn Lynch(notes). Maybe Sidney Rice(notes) heads to Seattle, but it's tough to see what the attraction might be, other than money. The outlook for this offense is bleak. Let's just move on...
• If the Jets actually land Nnamdi Asomugha(notes), I might not start a quarterback or a receiver against that defense all year. That would make a badass defense even badass-ier. In other New York news, the Jets have reportedly retained Santonio Holmes(notes) on a five-year deal, per Schefter. Not a surprise, really, but certainly a meaningful continuity move, plus a win for Mark Sanchez(notes).
• It sounds like the Giants are going to meet with Plaxico Burress(notes) just as soon as they're allowed to do so. Houston, St. Louis and Philly have been linked to Burress, too. He's attempting a remarkable comeback at age 34; let's not assume he'll be a significant fantasy asset. You can have him, New York.

• The Denver Post's Mike Klis reports that "the Broncos' budget constraints may preclude them from signing a feature ball carrier such as DeAngelo Williams(notes)." So that dream is slowly dying. Klis mentions Jason Snelling(notes), Jerome Harrison(notes) and McGahee as possibilities for a job-share with Knowshon Moreno(notes). Harrison is of course just a season removed from one of the all-time fantasy playoff performances. Someone needs to give him a serious look, because I'd like a reason to own him again.

• Dan Wetzel just called out Mike Brown for his handling of the Carson Palmer(notes) situation. Per Dan's usual, it's a good read. The Dolphins are reportedly interested in Carson and willing to deal, if Brown is ever willing to release the hostage. Miami also seems to have an interest in a pair of recently released brand-name running backs, Marion Barber(notes) and Willis McGahee(notes). If the Fins sign either player, it's a small win for Daniel Thomas(notes). That team is clearly going to sign someone to take a piece of the rushing workload, so let's hope it's a 6-10 carry per game vet.

Normally we could take this with a grain of salt, but with the Titans being his rumored destination for a while now, and the ever-reliable Adam Schefter breaking the news (and Albert Breer confirming), it looks like Matt Hasselbeck is moving to the Titans on a multi-year deal, to start while Jake Locker is prepared for his eventual starting the job. The two have trained
This confirms, if it needed any confirming, that we'll enter camp with an open QB competition, and with a relatively cheap QB group, having neither invested much money or any picks - except the Whitehurst trade. Some may panic about the idea and would have rather had us bring in Hasselbeck. Would we win more games with Hasselbeck? I have my doubts, but it'll remain an unknown. Regardless of this season's result, PC and Schneider's attitude towards the QB position just makes a lot of sense for a rebuilding team.
Hasselbeck should land well with the Titans. Their great running game will take a lot of the weight from his shoulder and keep him from being pressured too much. While he's not ideally matched with Kenny Britt (and Britt might see a suspension) at least the receiving talent is there.
Best of luck with the Titans, Matt, we'll see you again when you're inducted into the Seahawks Ring of Honor.
With Hasselbeck committed to the team, TitanInsider brings the unsurprising news that Vince Young is up to be cut as soon as possible.

Matt Hasselbeck Headed To Tennessee, Cards Down To 3 QB Options For Now
Matt Hasselbeck is leaving the NFC West after 10 years of starting with the Seattle Seahawks, as he has agreed to a multi-year deal with the Tennesee Titans. He will be their starter this year and probably in 2012, but is expected to show rookie Jake Locker the ropes.
With the announcement, the Arizona Cardinals lost one of their options at quarterback.

With Hasselbeck leaving, teams in the NFC West should breathe a little easier. He has shown he can win in that division for a long time, and his experience and play were key in a playoff victory last season against the New Orleans Saints.
Arizona is currently talking deal with the Philadelphia Eagles for QB Kevin Kolb and also with the Denver Broncos for Kyle Orton. The Cards are the favorite to land Kolb, but Philly is trying to drive the price up.
As for Orton, it is believed that the Miami Dolphins are the favorites to land him.
With more moves expected today, it should not be out of the question for Arizona to have their quarterback decision made today.
